Gendarmerie vehicles were set on fire on Saturday March 25 by demonstrators who came to oppose the mega-basins in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres). For several hours, until mid-afternoon, the village fields became a battlefield, drowned in tear gas. 28 gendarmes were injured, according to the Ministry of the Interior.

At least 200 demonstrators injured according to opponents of the project

On the side of the demonstrators, seven people were injured according to the authorities, including one in absolute emergency. Opponents evoke for their part at least 200 wounded. For fear of excesses, the authorities had banned all demonstrations. Thousands of people still gathered. Several processions took the direction of Sainte-Soline, where there is a water reservoir under construction. Opponents denounce the environmental consequences.
