Among violence against women, there are two categories, explains Gilles Papin: domestic violence and sexual harassment and assault. With regard to feminicides, 102 women died in 2020, victims of beatings by their spouse or ex-spouse. In 2019, that figure was 152. A declining figure, in particular thanks to the implementation of the 3919, the number dedicated to women victims of violence.
Indeed, social networks have allowed more massive reporting of acts of violence against women. The creation of the hashtag # Metoo # in the United States following the revelations concerning the Harvey affair Weinstein. This hashtag is the first rallying sign against gender-based violence on social networks. In France, the movement Balanceton pork goes viral and affects all sections of society. These movements are declined and even go so far as to denounce the police stations which do not take into account the complaints filed by the alleged victims. More recently the hashtag # Balancetonbar # was created to denounce bars and boxes night in which women are were doing unwittingly drugged to be sexually assaulted.
