Preferred to CD, vinyl has more and more followers. In Béziers, in the Hérault, a specialized store opened a year ago has met with some success.

For fifteen years, Marc Cantori has taken his vinyls to markets in the south of France. A year ago, he moved to Béziers (Hérault), where there was no store specializing in “galettes”, as he calls them. “We are not looking for anything, we are brought everything. These are customers who sell us their records. […] These are the big bands that sell the most: Queen, U2, The Cure, ACDC, Metallica…” he explains.

Favorite vinyl over CD

Most of his vinyls are original pressings, and therefore analog. Here, digital is less popular. “The almost dematerialized side of the CD, this object which is finally chrome and a little tasteless, it does not bring the pleasure of unpacking, of putting on the turntable, of leafing through the cover, of looking at the lyrics. All that, I find it today with the vinyl“, says a customer. At the central media library in Montpellier (Hérault), vinyls have also made their comeback after 23 years of absence.
