Vinted, the European giant in the resale of used clothing, will soon cease its activities in Canada. The online platform will no longer be available as of February 12, 2024.
In an email sent to its users, the company explains that it has made “the difficult decision to close Vinted in Canada for the moment”. It is now “unable to register” for the platform as of today.
From January 12, Vinted warns that there will be “limits when using the platform”. In fact, “it will only be possible to complete current orders and settle payments”, we detail. Users will no longer be able to buy or sell their items.
Then, on February 12, it will no longer be possible to take any action other than contact the Vinted support team or “update your banking details to ensure you receive all pending funds “.
A success in Europe… not in Canada
“In 2021, we launched Vinted in Canada using a different technical platform than that used in other countries. Unfortunately, it has proven too difficult to maintain the standards of experience we want to provide to our members around the world,” explains the company in the email sent to its users in Canada.
Created in 2008 in Vilnius, Lithuania, Vinted has enjoyed significant success in Europe. The company says it has 75 million users in 16 markets — which are primarily European countries, in addition to the United States and Canada.
