“On a big weekend like the Ascension”the communication manager of Vinci Autoroutes Rhône Alpes Auvergne Morgane Sauzay estimates on Wednesday May 25 on franceinfo to wait “4 million motorists a day” on its network. “It’s the first big weekend of the year. Normally, we welcome 2 million motorists.”

The first slowdowns have already started in the Rhône Valley “when we leave Lyon in the direction of the South”. For this Wednesday classified red by Bison Futé, there will be really many people “at the end of the day when approaching large cities”. Thursday, on the other hand, it will start “from morning until mid-afternoon”. And while Sunday will be classified black with all the returns concentrated on the same day, Morgane Sauzay expects difficulties “from early in the morning until even midnight on certain axes.”

“Everyone is mobilized” for this busy weekend at Vinci Autoroutes, she assures. “We have reinforced the patrols of men and women in yellow on the network but also our regulators in the security PCs to regulate traffic and reduce the appearance of traffic jams, even if there will be any.” At rest areas, “Restaurants and service stations have also strengthened their teams by calling on the first seasonal workers.”

The communication manager of Vinci Autoroutes Rhône Alpes Auvergne calls for motorists to be vigilant to avoid “clashes” because of the “accordions” and traffic jams that will form. “You have to be fully focused to anticipate slowdowns and not look at your phone.” She also advises taking “something to drink on the way and during traffic jams” because it will be hot. Morgane Sauzay also recalls that“a break is necessary every two hours.”
