The fire spread to a three-storey multi-unit building, located on rue Beaujolais, a small residential street where there are mainly apartment blocks.

In photos shared by the Laval Firefighters Association, the apparent flames emerge from the roof of the building and a major deployment is underway to try to control them.

The area from Rue d’Orléans to Boulevard des Laurentides should be avoided.

On Thursday, another major fire was declared in another apartment building on boulevard de la Concorde Ouest, about 8 kilometers away, as reported by Courrier Laval. Four people found themselves on the street because of the blaze.
