Ville-Marie Tunnel | Kidnapped, tied up and beaten, he escapes from the trunk of a car on the road

Kidnapped, beaten and tied up, a young man linked to street gangs managed to escape from the trunk of a car which was traveling on Route 136, in the Ville-Marie tunnel, Monday evening.

Authorities say they were alerted around 8:40 p.m. by several 911 calls from citizens about a man lying on a lane of this road, near the Atwater exit.

The Sûreté du Québec, to which this sector falls, rescued the individual who was then tied up and had serious injuries, some of which were apparently inflicted by a stab. He was taken to hospital and his life was no longer in danger as of Tuesday. The young man apparently managed to escape from the trunk of a car by himself. The identity and destination of the driver of this car are still unknown.

The Montreal City Police Department then took over the investigation since initial information obtained by investigators indicated that the 20-year-old young man had been kidnapped earlier in the evening in the Centre-Sud district.

According to our information, the victim of this kidnapping is Abdellah Affane, 20 years old. The young man is considered by the police to be a member of a Saint-Léonard street gang, EGK.

Already arrested for car theft

This new criminal group, also known as “Everybody Gets Killed,” was recently set up by men from Saint-Léonard, a criminal source confided last March.

Investigators planned to go to the hospital Tuesday to meet with him. No arrests have yet been made in the case of his kidnapping.

Abdellah Affane was arrested last April with three accomplices while trying to steal a Jeep from the parking lot of a hotel in Laval. The four young men were then charged with attempted vehicle theft and possession of burglary tools.

Two of them, Ahmed Mekkika and Aymen Ouassim, aged 18, were taken into custody by Peel Regional Police as they were under arrest warrant and wanted in connection with a attempted murder case that occurred in Ontario.

Adbellah Affane was released on conditions. He is still awaiting trial in this case before the Court of Quebec.
