Ville-Marie | A man with a stab wound

A 30-year-old was found with a stab wound to the upper body on Sunday evening in the Ville-Marie borough of Montreal. He was taken to hospital, but is expected to live.


Authorities were contacted around 8 p.m. Sunday evening by people who found a passerby with upper body injuries at the corner of Maisonneuve Boulevard West and Atwater Avenue in Montreal.

At the scene, the police found a 38-year-old man injured, but conscious. He was transported to the hospital and his life would not be in danger, according to Caroline Chèvrefils, media relations officer for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

For now, the causes that led to the attack on the victim are unknown. A perimeter has been erected and the scene is analyzed by investigators and members of the forensic identification. A canine unit was also dispatched to the scene.

Two possible witnesses will be interviewed by the police as part of the investigation. There have been no arrests so far.
