Some Moroccan villages were transformed into veritable fields of ruins after the devastating earthquake of September 8. Reporting.
Moulay Brahim (Morocco) was a town of 3,000 inhabitants, at an altitude of 1,200 meters in the High Atlas. After the earthquake of Friday September 8, there is almost nothing left of the town. The destruction is considerable. The mosque is one of the few buildings to have survived. The survivors gathered in a vacant lot, away from buildings.
An isolated area
The area is completely isolated. A little further, in Ijoukak (Morocco), nothing remains, only a few kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake. In Taroudant (Morocco), it is a field of ruins that stretches for kilometers. The roads are blocked and the soldiers are forced to go there on foot. The stone blocks are removed with bare hands, or with shovels. It is therefore impossible to assess the extent of the disaster.
