The look that we cast on the villa Balbianello, in Italy, can only be amazed. The palace overlooking Lake Como is a marvel, seen in particular in the film “Star Wars”.

Set at the end of a rocky outcrop, Villa Balbianello offers one of the most beautiful views of Lake Como (Italy). It was built on the ruins of a medieval monastery. Giuliano Gali, the president of the Lake Como Environmental Fund, is the guardian of the temple. “A truly enchanting place”, he describes. Transformed into a manor house in the 17th century, the villa has not undergone any architectural modification since. Its immutable garden has inspired the greatest Hollywood directors. George Lucas rented his terraces to shoot part of episode II of Star Wars, attack of the clones. The decor also hosted James Bond, in Casino Royale.

The trees in the garden seem to grow in the rock, as if suspended above the water. A team of three gardeners takes care of every detail every day. The last owner was a wealthy Italian explorer. He bequeathed the villa to the Environment Fund. The site, open until the fall, attracts more than 120,000 visitors each year from all over the world. Every day, three or four couples spend nearly 1,000 euros here to immortalize their wedding. An eternal setting, therefore, which has inspired artists and writers for centuries.
