The Rappel Conso website is warning about the Paris 2024 water bottles from the Vilac brand and is asking consumers to return them to where they bought them to get a refund, we can read on the Rappel Conso X account on Friday, July 19.

The cause is a Bisphenol A (BPA) content that does not comply with MCDA regulations (materials and objects which, in the finished product state, are intended to come into contact with foodstuffs). Rappel Conso notes a “exceeding safety thresholds” and advises to “do not use the product anymore”.

The gourds were marketed between August 30, 2023 and June 3, 2024 throughout France. They are present in the “shops and retailers distributing Vilac brand products”. Rappel Conso indicates that this is a voluntary recall issued without a prefectural decree.

As a reminder, Bisphenol A is considered an endocrine disruptor by the French Food Safety Agency (ANSES). Since January 1, 2015, the use of Bisphenol A has been banned in the composition of food containers (baby bottles, bottles, canned goods, etc.). Bisphenol A is suspected of being linked to multiple disorders and diseases (breast cancer, infertility, etc.).
