While Viktor Lazlo is releasing “Les Suds”, she came to the 23h set of franceinfo to discuss the Caribbean inspirations that have inhabited her to develop this new album.
Viktor Lazlo definitely has more than one string to his bow. Singer, but also writer and actress, or simply artist. For this new album titled The Souths, she immersed herself in her Caribbean origins. “There are African, Spanish, Italian, Indian, Native American“, she begins. “It’s a moving tectonic, all that mixes and it’s difficult to situate in one place“, explains Viktor Lazlo.
If the majority of the album is in French, some texts are in Creole, as a tribute to his Martinican father. “I needed to put my Creole touch on this album and I thought it was now or never“, she says. “I feel like I’ve spent forty years of my life traveling the world, and all these experiences I’ve had, I want them to serve a country where everything is still possible“, she concludes.
