“Vignerons” exhibition at the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux!

The Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation is known for highlight the women and men who make wine. Whether on the radio, in videos or at events, light is put on the human. The same goes for photography; it is not the product that is important to look at, but those who make it. And who better than Yann Arthus-Bertrand to capture these unique personalities through a lens? From this reflection was born this slightly crazy project. For three days, a giant photo studio was set up in the heart of the vineyard at Cassard domain and more than 70 portraits of winegrowers from the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation taken in front of a canvas which hosted celebrities. Alone, with family or with their teams, they were able to meet the man who, through his “Portraits of the French”, highlights emotions and human nature so well.

Ecological approaches

Thus from November 25 to 27, 2021, Yann Arthus-Bertrand was able to photograph but above all exchange with the winegrowers of Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux. With more than 28% of the area of ​​the appellation in organic farming or in conversion, the environment was at the heart of these meetings. Very committed to ecological issues (Yann Arthus-Bertrand is President of the GoodPlanet Foundation), he never stopped asking winegrowers if they were committed to ecological approaches and was marked by the efforts made by everyone to always go further in their way of working with respect for the environment. Three days of a unique experience for winegrowers, leaving with memories in their heads, delighted with the simplicity of Yann Arthus-Bertrand who never hesitated to lend himself to the game by passing in front of the lens to immortalize the moment
