This “Gourmet stopover” is entirely devoted to Vienne-Condrieu, a town located in Isère, where you can savor famous products and taste (in moderation) no less famous wines.
Next to Nathalie Helal : Stephane Jay from Maison Colombier, Lionel Chappat from the Viennese cheese dairy and Florian Marcelinin charge of wine tourism at the Vienne-Condrieu tourist office.
Nathalie Helal introduces us to Condrieu and Côte Rôtie wines, the Ampuis wine market and two thousand years of local viticulture. It is also a question of cheeses such as Rigotte de Condrieu, Saint-Marcelin, Saint-Félicien and Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage. And for dessert, Triomphe de Vienne pear and the famous pear brandy. A tribute is paid throughout the program to Fernand Pointone of the fathers of French gastronomy with its Viennese restaurant, The pyramid.
To tell us the story of pear brandy, Nathalie Helal invited Stéphane Jay from Maison Colombier, in Villette de Vienne. It is in this exploitation and this distillery that he and his wife Sophie took over that this famous eau-de-vie was born.
Maison Colombier now offers a wide selection of pear products : liqueur, perry, fruit juice, compotes, pasta, chocolates or even sorbets.
Lionel Chappat is a cheesemaker, owner of the Fromagerie Viennoise since 2004. Favoring farm products from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and 95% raw milk, he notably supplies chef Patrick Henriroux, 2 stars at The pyramid. With 150 references, it invites a real trip to the country of cheese and presents Rigotte de Condrieu AOP, the local star goat cheese.
To talk about the region’s famous wines, Nathalie Helal receives Florian Marcelin, in charge of wine tourism at the Vienne-Condrieu tourist office since 2014, on the Vitis Vienna, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph vineyardsand also the author of a doctoral thesis in geography, entitled “The rebirth of the Vitis Vienna vineyard”.
