Twenty years ago, the United States invaded Iraq, bringing down the regime of Saddam Hussein. “We were promised democracy, as well as the reconstruction of our infrastructure. Youssef Alnaama was 10 years old when his family fled the conflict in his country of origin. He returned there later, before leaving permanently to settle in Canada. According to him, none of the promises made have been kept.
