In the United States, these gardening guerrillas are sowing seeds in public spaces to bring nature back to the city. Phoenix and Shalaco advocate for everyone to practice gardening in public spaces. Armed with plastic guns and parmesan sprinklers filled with seeds, they sow seed mixes of local wildflowers in abandoned areas.
In their neighborhood of San Francisco, Shalaco and Phoenix have indeed been struck by the lack of natural spaces. For these activist gardeners, anyone can have a positive impact on the environment. As urban areas expand more and more, they participate in the reconstruction of natural ecosystems.
Of the 100 most cultivated plants by humans, 70 are pollinated by bees. The duo also seeks to arouse the curiosity of city dwellers and encourage them to take the seed.
