This weekend was held the We Love Green festival in Vincennes with a varied program, spread over three days. Friday evening, the DJ Andy4000 participated for the second time in the festival. Brut followed this artist in her preparation before her show.
It’s far from being her first scene, however, DJ Andy4000 feels slight anxiety a few minutes before the start of her performance. “I want to do the best I can. And when we are in front of a new crowd, it’s quite difficult to position yourself and be super confident, even if you can bring something super cool”, says DJ Andy4000. Control of the equipment and the scales, it carries out the last checks before launching. On the program, a mix of different styles of music where she combines trap, rap, drill and Brazilian melodies in particular. A passage that also sounds like a challenge, since his performance takes place at the same time as that of rapper Orelsan, on the La Prairie stage. “It is not easy. There is PLK in front of me, and when I start, there is Orelsan, so it will be really difficult to capture everyone”.
“At festivals, we have a lot more freedom”
Accustomed to clubs, the DJ appreciates the freedom that festivals offer but also the public who, according to her, are more receptive to new proposals. “In a club, we would be much more confined to a recipe that works very well because, sometimes, the population of the clubs, which I frequent, in any case, is not always open to proposals. There, today, I’m really going to be able to spend my last nuggets, so it’s going to be seriously cool”.
To give free rein to her creativity, the DJ does not prepare any tracks before playing. Everything is based on feeling, intuition and the bodily messages of the public that she tries to identify. “I read the body language of the spectators and I try to reach out to them or, in any case, to bring them something that is close to what they are looking for. I think that delivering music to them and showing them the pleasure I take in mixing is a lot, it’s already enough”she says.
