In the ecological thriller “The Green Promise” directed by Edouard Bergeon, Alexandra Lamy plays the role of a mother who fights to free her son, Félix Moati, sentenced to death in Indonesia. Brut followed the actress during a day of meeting with the public in Les Sables-d’Olonne.

We filmed here because the mother’s character is an English teacher here, in Les Sables-d’Olonne. And when she learns that her son is imprisoned in Indonesia… Her fight begins, she will try to free her son against all the lobbying” explains Alexandra Lamy. In the movie The green promise Directed by Edouard Bergeon, she plays the mother of Félix Moati. Beyond the fight of a mother for her son, the film also deals with ecological issues affecting the planet, and in particular palm oil which constitutes a danger for fauna, flora and human health.

“Seeing images, sometimes, also allows you to become aware”

Obviously, we are not saying that we are going to change the world, that would be very pretentious of us. But sometimes (a film) saves time. It allows us to exchange. With films like that, we see the images, we see these forests which are completely ruined, burned, we see all the suffering of the animals… Because all of that is a system. Seeing images, sometimes, also allows you to become aware” declares Alexandra Lamy.

“There were texts that said that a forest the size of a football field, every 5 seconds, was cut down or burned”

In the cinema room, the film crew interacts with 3rd grade students. “There was one thing that struck me at the end of the film. There were texts that said that a forest the size of a football field, every 5 seconds, was cut down or burned” notes Amy, a 3rd grader. For Charline, another student, it is clear that this evening when she returns home, she will ask her parents to throw away “all items containing palm oil”.

This is the first time that I really did previews with middle and high school students. And I was very interested in getting their feedback. Given the subject, I said to myself: “Will this really excite them?” It’s an ecological thriller. There is the fight of a mother with her son. Her son, who is an idealist and who follows through on his dreams, and what he believes. And in fact, they were like that, they listened, they understood everything. When we asked them questions, we feel that they were touched by the film, it’s great because we feel that it’s emotional” concludes the actress. The release of the film The green promise is scheduled for March 27.
