“I didn’t necessarily have the courage, I was afraid of the eyes of others.” Burned in the face since childhood, Yasmina pushed the door of Dulcenae, an “inclusive” beauty center which offers treatments adapted to all. And that’s why it’s important.

“I lived very well with my burns throughout my early childhood. On the other hand, I had an identity crisis when I was a teenager”, says Yasmina, whose face has been burned since the age of 3 and a half. It is also the moment when she becomes aware of the gaze of others and of the fact that she is different.

It will take her a long time before she returns to a beauty salon. For fear of the gaze of others, but also that we are not comfortable with our burns. But in Dulcenae, socio-beauticians take care of the clients, which immediately put Yasmina at ease.

“A socio-beautician is a beautician who has specialized for a whole year with health professionals (…) to be able to work with vulnerable populations”explains Julie, one of the employees of this institute.

Thus, when Yasmina goes to Dulcenae, she doesn’t just come out wearing makeup. The socio-estheticians take the time to discuss with the clients, to comfort them, to provide them with support. “When I was young, (…) I tended to cover my scars as much as possible so that people wouldn’t see them. Now it’s quite the opposite.” launches Yasmina.
