In Marseille, “Special Envoy” followed the motorcycle acrobatics of two “cross bitumen” enthusiasts… and went to meet exasperated residents.

It has become a priority for the police: to put an end to urban rodeos which poison the lives of local residents and sometimes end in tragedy. Since the law of August 3, 2018, the practice is no longer considered an offense but a misdemeanor, and offenders are liable to one year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros, a sanction which may increase in the event of aggravating circumstances. But how to ensure that the law is respected?

In Marseille, we followed the motorcycle acrobatics of Ayoub and Lillio, two “cross bitumen” enthusiasts who agreed to let us film their illegal rodeos on public roads.

Pleasure “like a drug”?

Lillio admits it: he sometimes took risks on the road that he shouldn’t have but…”it’s the love“! Ayoub admits that every time he is “frustrated” Where “that there is a problem” in his life, he gets on his motorbike and “forget everything“, even if all his money goes into this passion, “like a drug“.

“Special Envoy” also went to meet the exasperated residents. For them, the noise of vehicles, “like chainsaws“, is a real violence. Not to mention the worry of possible accidents that the practice can cause.

A report by Romain Boutilly, Olivier Gardette and Mikael Bozo broadcast in “Special Envoy” on September 29, 2022.
