The death toll continues to rise after the powerful earthquakes. In Turkey, in freezing cold, families and rescuers continue to search for possible survivors… “Special Envoy” is on site.
On the night of Monday, February 6, 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey near the city of Kahramanmaraş. A few hours later, another strong tremor was felt a little further north, and several aftershocks took place. These earthquakes took place in densely populated areas and affected an area including southern Turkey and northern Syria.
Survivors searching for their loved ones
While the toll of the disaster continues to increase, rescuers are still trying to find survivors, and the thousands of injured must be taken care of. The survivors face freezing temperatures and desperately try to find their loved ones in the rubble, in indescribable pain and destitution.
