The author of the work “Khaos, the betrayed promise of modernity”, Raphaël Liogier evokes the need for transcendence.

For Raphaël Liogier, transcendence is an irreducible feeling of incompleteness which is the nature of the human species. “This is what is universal, it is the definition of human and it is a feeling, in a way, native to humans. That is to say, things are greater than they appear to be, they are other than what they appear to be, and therefore there is a desire to go beyond appearances. And it’s really this native feeling that can translate into a feeling of absurdity. This anxiety of emptiness translated into a desire to fill the void. And our society has become a society of filling the void, while the object of the void, as I tell you, that’s why it’s called khaos, it’s not empty, it’s full of potentialities, but of potentialities that are elusive, but unbearable, precisely, because they are elusive.
