Watching movies in space is possible. For Brut, French astronaut Thomas Pesquet explains how he watches movies on board the space station.

“Obviously we don’t have a movie theatre.” To watch movies on the space station, Thomas Pesquet and his counterparts installed an overhead projector a few years ago.

“We have a screen that we have tinkered with a bit, it’s sort of large sheets of white plastic that we deploy on the walls”describes the French astronaut.

In order not to fall in the middle of viewing, the astronauts are forced to fix themselves so as not to float. For this, they use kinds of “tensioners or rubber bands”, explains Thomas Pesquet.

“We all settle down, and we share these moments together”says the astronaut. “It’s often American movies, because the most common language is English.”
