Having to find techniques to have sex without committing sin, having to wear magic underwear… Former Mormons tell why they left the Mormon Church.

This church was founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith. The latter recounts having had apparitions which would have asked him to restore the original Christian values. Mormons differ from mainstream Christians because they accept additional works into their canon and believe in living prophets. They defend doctrines such as the eternal family, sexual purity and originally practiced polygamy before officially renouncing it in 1890.

In the 1800s, Joseph Smith’s successor, Brigham Young, took a group of Mormons to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he established the worldwide headquarters of the Mormon Church. Today, the Mormon Church says it has more than 16 million members worldwide.
