For Jean-Charles Samuelian, the technological revolution in medicine will allow us to imagine a new health system that will benefit caregivers and citizens alike. Here’s how.
“When we see that three-quarters of post-covid under-35s declare themselves to be in a situation of mental stress and in a situation of stress with regard to their mental health, it means that there is really something to do, technology can play a role” Jean-Charles Samuelian has written a book on the interest of new technologies in medicine. For him, the technological revolution in medicine is a real benefit for patients. “For example, if I am stressed before my meetings or if I have impostor syndrome, can I have the right video at the right time that helps me deal with these problems?“, he explains. He adds: “Our system, if it continues, is potentially going into the wall.”
According to him, while health is the first concern of the French – especially since the Covid-19 pandemic – technology could help to have personalized programs on our health. Also, Jean-Charles Samuelian considers that it could allow to have in one place, all its data and all its history. “So my X-rays, my checks up, my blood tests, all this evolution, which saves a lot of time (…) to know your blood type, these little details there“, he develops. Finally, Jean-Charles Samuelian praises the ability of new technologies to create personalized nutrition programs, to know your risks of having such and such a disease…
But beware, there is also the issue of protecting our data. “There must be trusted third parties, there the State also has a real role to be extremely punitive of those who do not play the game. There are plenty of regulations, you need both ‘interoperability, ethics and data protection”, concludes Jean-Charles Samuelian?
