Trailing by two goals at half-time, the French forced extra time before finally losing to La Roja on Friday.

The match lived up to the event. Facing Spain in the final of the Olympic football tournament, the French men’s team lost at the end of a crazy match, 5-3 after extra time, Friday August 9 at the Parc des Princes. Enterprising offensively from the first moments of the match, Thierry Henry’s players opened the scoring through midfielder Enzo Millot, in the 11th minute of play. Faced with a technically precise and skillful Spaniard in front of goal, the Blues then sank, finally trailing 3-1 at half-time.

Encouraged by the Parc des Princes crowd, the Blues snatched extra time thanks to goals from Maghnes Akliouche (79th), and Jean-Philippe Mateta on penalty (90+3rd). Stunned, but far from being finished, the Roja players got their foot back on the ball, before scoring twice, and heading towards the Olympic title.
