While the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out a year and a half ago, and all eyes are now on the war between Hamas and Israel, Olena Zelenska, “First Lady” of Ukraine, asks France and the rest of the world not to forget that “the danger has not passed for Ukraine”.

18 months ago, war broke out between Russia and Ukraine. While the clashes between Hamas and Israel have been in the news for several weeks, Olena Zelenska, “First Lady” of Ukraine, recalls that the war in Ukraine must not be forgotten. “It is vital for Ukrainians not to be forgotten. The war continues, the war has not become less intense, the danger has not passed for us. Please don’t forget it. (…) We need to hold on in this war, it is essential”. She recalls that certain cities continue to be bombed every day, such as Kharkiv or Kherson. “Children in these areas cannot physically go to schools” indicates the wife of the Ukrainian president, adding that everywhere in the country, “there are young men and young girls who have abandoned their civilian life, who have joined the front. And unfortunately, we are not sure that everyone will return”.

“We cannot allow one tragedy to supplant another. These tragedies stand side by side”

For Olena Zelenska, certain conflicts shaking the world may be linked. She explains: “From the first days of this aggression against Ukraine, we have been saying that if the aggression is not stopped, it will continue to spread. And the situation in the Middle East is further proof of the fact that the aggression, which has not been stopped, is spreading like an infection and which can cause a outbreak to break down in any place in the world, wherever there is a hot spot. This is our warning to remind you that we cannot let this global insecurity continue. We have to do something, make sure this can’t continue”. She says Ukraine needs to hold on. “We need means for this. Our army needs weapons to continue to defend itself and hold the positions it is in now because the enemy is much stronger” says Olena Zelenska, about Russia.
