The bronze medalist at the Tokyo Games won the French delegation’s sixteenth title on Saturday in a festive atmosphere at the Grand Palais.

At 22, she has won everything. Already European and world champion, Althéa Laurin won the Olympic title at the Paris Games, beating Uzbek Svetlana Osipova (2-0) in the final of the +67 kg category, Saturday August 10 at the Grand Palais. The Frenchwoman had not lost a single round during the tournament before this confrontation, and once again delivered an almost perfect fight.

She hit her opponent with a kick to the head in the first round, winning calmly with a score of 3-0. Then she controlled the distance throughout the second round, before the two taekwondoists scored simultaneously in the final seconds (3-3). A tie decided by the judges in favor of the native of Saint-Denis, who won gold in Paris after bronze in Tokyo.
