The actor is also indicted for rape and sexual assault.

One week after broadcast of a “Further investigation” on Gérard Depardieuwhere we see the actor multiplying sexual and sexist remarks during a trip to North Korea in 2018, the Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul Malak, interviewed by franceinfo, said “deeply shocked” by these images. “His comments are extremely serious, terribly violent and contrary to the very dignity of human beings and women and children”she added about the actor, also indicted for rape and sexual assault.

Asked about the decision of director Fabien Onteniente to no longer film with Gérard Depardieu, Rima Abdul Malak, however, believes that “vsEach director, each director, each screenwriter, is free to make his or her choices.” The minister, however, recalls that several measures have been put in place to combat sexist and sexual violence on film sets. Among these, the conditionality of CNC aid for the monitoring by the teams of films of a ftraining against gender-based and sexual violence, as well as a subsidy bonus to encourage the presence of women on set, with 15% additional assistance from the CNC for gender-balanced teams.
