With gas prices soaring, Louis decided to go to work…on horseback.
Louis, 21, consumed about 80 euros of diesel per month. Waiter in a brewery, he made the decision to go to work on horseback, with his mare named Éole. “She takes me to work once or twice a week“, he specifies. Louis must count about an hour and a half on horseback against the twelve minutes by car he usually did.
With the rise in gas prices, Louis came to question the profitability of his work. “In our countryside, people sometimes have to travel 100 kilometers a day, just to get to work and at 2.30 euros per liter of gasoline, it’s just not possible.“, he laments. Indeed, his mare costs him an average of 1500 euros per year. And passionate about horse riding, this allows him to combine business with pleasure.
