[VIDÉO] Quartier DIX30 and Marché Jean-Talon: they refuse to comment on the false tickets given to their customers

[Dossier] Companies that award contracts to private parking managers are stingy with comments on the “false fines” distributed to their customers, noted THE Newspaper.

The parking lots in Quartier DIX30, in Brossard, are managed by the company Stat Park Inc. When we passed last month, several dozen motorists had false fines on their windshields.

Marianne Usal, marketing coordinator of DIX30, never responded to our requests on this subject.

The Jean-Talon Market in Montreal, whose parking lots are also monitored by Stat Park Inc., refused to answer our questions.

“The Société des Marchés publics de Montréal will not grant an interview and will not make any comments. I suggest you communicate directly with Stat Park for the future,” mentions their brand manager, Myriam Martin-Brochu, in an email.

“Worrying” practice

Galeries Laval has mandated the company Max Park Inc. in 2022 to monitor its parking spaces.

“You should know that the management of this parking lot is problematic, because several individuals park there all day to avoid the fees for other surrounding parking lots, which causes availability problems for customers of the businesses in this shopping center,” explains Josée Lagacé, vice-president of communications for the FTQ Real Estate Solidarity Fund.

The FTQ, owner of Galeries Laval, now claims to be carrying out “verifications” with Max Park Inc.

“Note that we expect our specialized contractors, experts in their fields, to have exemplary business practices and comply with laws and regulations. The practice raised is worrying,” comments Mme Lagacé.

! WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVE A FALSE PARKING TICKET?
  • File a complaint with the Consumer Protection Office
  • Do not pay the amount of the false fine
  • Do not contact the company. Otherwise, it will collect your private information
  • If you have paid these fees, you can give notice to the merchant to reimburse you
  • You could even seek punitive damages in small claims court
