No phone, TV or internet for months. Tangled or cut cables, holes in the partitions to and fro… the deployment of optical fiber in French homes sometimes turns into a disaster.
The government has however promised fiber for everyone in 2025, thanks to a public-private partnership of 20 billion euros between the State and internet service providers.
Too much outsourcing?
But this historic project entrusted to the operators is jammed: auto-entrepreneur technicians trained anyhow because of excessive subcontracting, overwhelmed after-sales services… 15% to 20% of subscribers would be affected by a malfunction of the service.
Some municipalities have taken the bull by the horns by locking access to street cabinets. A form of resistance is organized, for lack of regulation.
