It is one of the most anticipated films of the year in France. For the first time, “The Count of Monte Cristo” with Pierre Niney in the title role was presented to the public, selected out of competition at Cannes 2024. Brut followed the entire film team before going up the steps.

Pierre Niney, the main actor of the film “The Count of Monte Cristo”, says “very happy” And “proud” for participating in this project. He explains : “It’s going very well, very happy, we’re proud to have made this film so we can’t wait to see the result, to see the reaction and then we’re not in competition!” “I’m super grateful to be here, it’s a chance to present a film at Cannes, it’s my first Cannes. It’s cool though” adds Julien De Saint-Jean, also an actor in the film.

Asked about his expectations regarding this first visit to Cannes, Julien De Saint-Jean confides: “I was told that it was a bit sporty, that there were a lot of people, that it went very quickly, but I didn’t think to that extent. But now, I know that we did the hardest part, we’re just going to go up the steps, it’s going to be cool, they’re going to present the film to people, I can’t wait, there will be my parents, I’m so happy. Last stretch and then we can really enjoy it. of the evening and have fun.”

For the director of the film, Alexandre De La Patellière, this premiere in Cannes is a real birth. He declares : “Presenting the film in the official selection, for us, is a first. And then, it’s a film that we have just finished. So, it’s a film that we haven’t shown. So. .. It’s a birth tonight. We’ve been living with it for two years.”.

“It’s true that it’s always mixed feelings that follow one another in the same day. You’re scared, you want to be there. And at the same time we are happy with the film, so we want to show it, we want to share it, we have our friends, the family who are there. There is a very festive side. We are still in a hurry to be there even if we are afraid” adds Matthieu Delaporte, director of the film.

Laurent Lafitte, actor in the film, confides that despite the experience, the Cannes Film Festival remains an impressive experience. He indicates : “The more I come to Cannes, the more I inevitably relax. Because it’s true that the festival machine is quite impressive when you come for the first time. And now, I’m able to put all that into perspective and really take the pleasure where it is. That means getting together, well dressed, going to present a film in front of people who want to see it. And there you have it, I feel like I’ve really reached the base of true Canois pleasure.

Finally, director Alexandre De La Patellière describes this moment as “a wonderful time” And “moving“, notably because of the reunion of the entire film team: “It’s a wonderful moment, it’s a moving moment and it’s particularly moving now because we are in the process of putting our entire troupe of actors back together. We still left a few months ago on last day of filming. We lived together for a long time and seeing them all very beautiful, Bastien, Anaïs, Laurent, Pierre, all that, and our young people, Julien, Amaria, it’s very moving for us to experience that. together, and that it’s the opportunity here in Cannes to get together, it’s still great.”
