In Greenland, the retreat of the glaciers revealed “Nunanutaat”, new lands hitherto unknown. For Brut, explorer Nicolas Dubreuil recounts what he saw during his previous expedition.

In this area of Greenland, the cartography is no longer up to date. And it was the explorer Nicolas Dubreuil who noticed it during his previous expedition. For Brut, he explains how the retreat of the glaciers favored the appearance of new lands, the “Nunanutaat”.

“First, your first impression is to say to yourself: “But wait what is it, has it changed or what? What happened here, I don’t I don’t understand, it doesn’t match my map. Am I wrong? Is it my GPS?” And you are completely lost in fact!”

“So here we are, really in terra incognita…Lands that have never been explored!“Arriving on the lands of Greenland, the explorer Nicolas Dubreuil noticed the appearance of new lands, invisible on his cartography.

These lands, called “Nunanutaat”, appeared after the melting of very large glaciers. “With this climate change, the glaciers are shrinking so they are retreating. And as they retreat, these glaciers will free up new land, which was below the glaciers, areas that have never been explored.”

Although he has been coming for thirty years, this is the first time that the explorer has discovered this phenomenon. “I was looking all the way to the right, all the way to the left, there was nothing left, nothing left! Everything was erased!”
