Video Music Awards | Taylor Swift leads nominations, followed by Post Malone

(New York) Taylor Swift once again demonstrates her musical dominance, this time in the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) nominations.


The singer of The Tortured Poets Department once again leads the VMA nominations with ten nods, including eight for its music video. FortnightShe is also nominated in the categories of artist of the year and pop artist.

She is followed in the nominations by her collaborator from the song FortnightPost Malone, who is nominated eight times with Swift and earned his ninth nomination for his country hit I Had Some Helpwith Morgan Wallen.

The nominees for artist of the year announced Tuesday are: Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA.

Swift won nine VMAs last year, bringing her total to an impressive 23. That puts her just behind Beyoncé, who has 28 (two with Destiny’s Child) and just ahead of Madonna, who has 20, and Lady Gaga, who has 19.

The 2024 VMAs will air live on September 10 at 8 p.m.

Grande, Carpenter and Eminem are tied with six nominations, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA have five each. LISA, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims follow with four nominations.

This year, 29 artists were nominated for the first time, including Wallen, Carpenter and Swims as well as Benson Boone and Tyla – the latter of whom each have three nominations.

The VMAs will take place at the UBS Arena on Long Island in New York. Public voting begins online Tuesday in 15 gender-neutral categories and ends August 30.

Voting in the Best New Artist category will remain active throughout the evening.
