The Muse group is soon celebrating its 30th anniversary. And for this occasion, Brut asked Dominic Howard, drummer of the group, and Matthew Bellamy, guitarist and singer, the recipe for their success.
“There are so many bands that break up because of creative conflicts, or because they hate each other or whatever. If you don’t have a solid relationship, it’s easy to get angry and say ‘fuck you’ to the other”. As they soon celebrate the 30th anniversary of their group and have just released their ninth album, “Will of the People”, Dominic Howard and Matthew Bellamy look back on the beginnings of Muse.
“I think we first met when we were little, around 5 years old, but we didn’t really know each other. We realized later that we were in the same kindergarten. Then we became friends in college around the age of 12-13.“Friends since very young, the members of the group Muse quickly started producing music together. And their friendship, for them, was the main key to their success.
“The fact that we’ve known each other since school has meant that over the years, the success, the fact of becoming really rich, but also the change of lifestyle, the divorces, the romantic relationships that come and go , well, the only thing that hasn’t changed is our friendship within the band.” After 30 years of career, Muse is back with a new album called “Will of the People”.
