Less famous than the Miss Côte d’Ivoire contest, the Miss Mathematics contest organized since the 2000s in the country sees 465 girls from 3rd and final classes compete each year. This year, Miessan, a 15-year-old student, won the precious title.

“One day I was dealing with a subject and there was a boy from my senior year class who told me that instead of working for the homework that was coming, I was allowing myself to work for a competition that I didn’t. wasn’t even sure I had. At first it shocked me, but then I said to myself that if there was a competition reserved for girls, it was to be able to give them the chance to also be able to enter the field of mathematics.“Thanks to her victory, the young woman was able to win a scholarship for her studies as well as electronic equipment and several advantages. She now hopes to return to a university that “will allow him to be able to embrace the career of data scientist.”
