Mathilde’s summer job is to take care, alone with her two dogs, of around 1,000 sheep in the middle of the Pyrenees mountains. Brut followed her for a day.
“Not everyone will be able to really manage to spend an entire season, alone, working with animals that do a little what they want.“ Shepherdess in the Pyrenees, this young woman has managed to combine passion and work.
After several years working on a farm, Mathilde decides to become a shepherdess during the summer. From June to October, she is responsible for looking after about 1,000 sheep.
This job is a real passion for the young woman. “I definitely fell in love with this job. And I said to myself: “Well, OK, the mountains, it makes me feel good, it makes me happy, I’m happy in the mountains.”
Alone with her two dogs in the Pyrenees mountains, she explains how her animals help her with this summer job.
“I think all this work, if you do it without a dog, in the mountains, it’s complicated. Because there, suddenly, it’s not the dog who rides, it’s you. So it’s more fun to have a dog.”
