It is a very popular former anchor of the TVA news room who had to reveal himself, Sunday evening, at Masked singers.
Pierre Bruneau, who popularized the news for 46 years on the air of the most watched private network in Quebec, wore the flamboyant costume of Duke Colvert, a rather sophisticated dandy duck with his top hat and his cane.
After delivering a wild rendition of the song I Was Made For Lovin’ Youfrom Kiss, Mr. Bruneau unfortunately had to pack up. His competitors in the duels simply obtained more votes from the public and the pollsters, which does not detract from his performance.
Duc Colvert was unmasked and it was the anchor Pierre Bruneau who was hiding in the chic suit.

It was first against the Swan that Duc Colvert crossed swords. The bird so fond of pools of water had the best of the Duke by resuming For the love we have leftby the unforgettable Francine Raymond.
Among the clues given to identify Duc Colvert, it was said, among other things, that this personality “likes to take action”, “that she has not always won the lottery of life, but that she won the jackpot thanks to his morale of steel” and we showed a bike, which, once we know that it’s Pierre Bruneau, makes perfect sense given the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau which took place is held each year for the benefit of the Charles-Bruneau Foundation. Mr. Bruneau established the Foundation to support research and finance projects dedicated to pediatric oncology after his son Charles succumbed to leukemia on March 9, 1988.
We were unable to speak on the phone to the 72-year-old communicator, who is traveling in Morocco. But he answered a few questions by email.
“It was a great invitation and a great experience. I am neither a singer nor an actor, so it was really out of my comfort zone,” underlined Mr. Bruneau, not hiding his admiration for the talents for whom the stage is the main playground.

“The production team really did everything to make my job easier. I would have liked to sing in French, but it seems that it was too easy to recognize me!” he confided.
Remember that during his first performance, earlier in the season, Duc Colvert had pushed the note to Swayby Dean Martin.
Retired since 2022, Pierre Bruneau and his partner Ginette “travel the world to discover sincere people and different cultures. Without forgetting of course the exceptional landscapes. We are currently in Morocco. And what a pleasure!”
He added: “After 50 years in news, I have no regrets! What fun! Greetings and thanks again to the public who have followed me consistently for all these years. I have not forgotten you,” he wrote at the conclusion of his email.
Note that in the home stretch of this fifth episode of the season, Duc Colvert was on a toss-up with the Unicorn and the Sun. The three other participants of the evening, the Swan, the Owl and the Zebra had previously won their duel and thus automatically advanced to the next round.
Produced by Productions Déferlantes, in collaboration with Quebecor Content, the show Masked singers is broadcast on Sundays, at 6:30 p.m., on TVA. You can catch up on the episodes on the free TVA+ platform.
