Brut visited it a few months ago in Marseille: “Le Présage” is the first solar restaurant in Europe. To cook food, Pierre-André, its co-founder, takes advantage of the sun’s rays. Since the first visit, the snack bar has been transformed into a real restaurant.
“The initial project was to cook with the sun” says Pierre-André Aubert, co-founder of Présage. He started with “a prototype of a solar oven” either “a mirror that concentrates the light inside the stove”. In case of rain, an electrical system takes over. A few months ago, the test site was just a small guinguette combining a snack bar and a restaurant. “This allowed us to raise all the funding to build this intelligent, energy-efficient, bioclimatic building.” specifies the creator.
Since then, the snack bar has been transformed into a real restaurant. A vegetable garden is under construction around the place. “In 3 years, we will really have freshness on the ground thanks to the garden”says Pierre-André Aubert. Tonight, the opening night, all the meals were cooked using the sun’s energy. Among them, a ratatouille that delights the customers. Pierre-André Aubert says “proud of the whole team” who made this first in Europe possible: “I hope that it will become more democratic and that there will be more and more of them elsewhere”.
