Video LFI “will seek allies for a possible motion of censure” if the abolition of the increase in the retirement age is not examined

Insubordinate France is preparing a decisive week for opponents of the government’s pension reform. After a new day of social mobilization scheduled for Tuesday June 6, the Liot group will try to defend Thursday June 8 a bill aimed at repealing the decline in the legal retirement age to 64 years. In committee, Wednesday, the majority succeeded in unraveling this text, by withdrawing the first amendment, intended to return to a legal age of departure at 62 years.

The socialist group has reintroduced the repeal of the retirement age at 64 in Liot’s bill for consideration in plenary session, Thursday, June 8. But the President of the Assembly has already warned that she would block the vote on such an amendment, on the grounds that it creates or aggravates a public charge, which article 40 of the Constitution prohibits. On Saturday June 3, MP LFI Clémence Guetté urged “the macronists to let (the opponents) vote” this article of the bill.

“If it is not possible, indeed, we will have to go up a notch in what is possible for us in terms of response”warned Clémence Guetté, asked about the possibility of filing a new motion of censure. “We will seek allies for a possible motion of censure. I would like it to be cross-partisan. We could very well find ourselves in this configuration.”

In March, the independent group Liot had already filed a motion of censure, co-signed with elected officials from Nupes. Another motion of censure had been tabled by the National Rally. These two motions had failed to collect the absolute majority of deputies, necessary to bring down the text and the government.
