Suffering from a rare disease, Laurène will soon be blind. She does everything she can to enjoy her last months as a clairvoyant, and meticulously prepares for her future life.
Laurène, a bubbly 38-year-old Parisian, is not the type to give up. However, a terrible ordeal awaits her. In a few months, she will be blind. Autoimmune retinopathy, an extremely rare disease, is attacking her vision. Today, blinders insidiously frame her gaze. All she has left is the hypercenter of her visual field. Time is running out.
The young woman travels whenever she can to record the beauty of the world in her little “mental library”. While she does everything to enjoy these last months as a clairvoyant, she also meticulously prepares for her future life as a blind person. Braille lessons, labeling her daily life, mobility with a cane, nothing is left to chance. “I want to stay who I am. I refuse to let my new condition take anything away from me.”
This is not Laurène’s first ordeal. “I have real bad luck”, she said. She has already undergone two heart transplants, the result of a trivial infection combined with a heart murmur, but also a kidney transplant. Trials that have not taken away her joy of living and have, on the contrary, taught her to cultivate it. A mantra that she tries to maintain in this final stroke of fate. She will tell her story.
