Many social media posts erroneously link the recent outbreak of monkeypox cases to the use of the Astra Zeneca Covid-19 vaccine.
With the recent cases of monkeypox, the antivax and conspiratorial theses known during the Covid-19 epidemic are being reactivated. Several accounts thus claim that the use of the vaccine against Covid-19 developed by the Astra Zeneca group may be the cause of recent monkeypox infections.
Why ? Because it contains a chimpanzee adenovirus. But as scientists unanimously explain, the latter does not have the same shape as that responsible for monkeypox. On the other hand, that contained in the vaccine has been genetically modified and attenuated so as not to be transmissible to humans.
Also on the program, these publications which claim that the series “The Simpsons” predicted the monkeypox epidemic, with supporting cartoon images. These are genuine extracts but falsely associated with each other.
