AI-generated images: the virtual front of the Israel-Hamas war

Both are viral…and false. Generated by artificial intelligence, they contribute to the information war between Israel and Hamas.
Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas, following the deadly attack on October 7, disinformation has been one of the many fronts of the conflict. For some of the images that have gone viral, the origin can be found in artificial intelligence.
This is the case of this photo, supposed to show Atlético Madrid fans showing their support for the Palestinians in the middle of a match. No giant flag waved during a tifo: the image was created by an algorithm, as we prove in this video.
Second example: a tweet claiming that “the occupation is building the first camp for displaced Zionists in our occupied territories.” Here too, it is artificial intelligence which is responsible for creating the image. To reach this conclusion, we used a tool still reserved for professionals, but particularly promising in the fight against fake news.
