The man died and the two children were taken to hospital as urgent care, according to sources close to the investigation.
The tragedy took place around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, in a building in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. A man threw his two children out of the window of his fifth-floor apartment, before killing himself by jumping into the void. According to witnesses, the children fell onto the lawn. Aged 2 and 5, the two children are being hospitalized as an emergency. Their prognosis is critical.
According to the first elements collected, relayed by police sources, the facts would have occurred following an argument with his partner. Shocked, a neighbor interviewed by franceinfo describes a couple who “had just moved here about a year ago.” “When you saw them, you would never have thought [à des violences]. There was no screaming“, she says, “shocked.” The man “was always smiling, he put his little girl on his back, we saw each other at the park, we said hello”, confides another neighbor, quoted by AFP.
