Mehdi and Dounia started Kelb Derby, a project that aims to save stray dogs from slaughter. Brut followed them.

Mehdi and Dounia have embarked on a somewhat unusual project: they save stray dogs destined for slaughter. They founded Kelb Derby to provide care for these animals in need. To do this, Mehdi and Dounia have partner veterinarians able to provide the necessary care for the animals. This is particularly the case of Chance, a dog they recovered hairless and suffering from mange at an advanced stage. He thus spent 17 days with a partner veterinarian in Rabat, then another three months with another veterinarian.

Once treated, the dogs are welcomed in a partner pension while waiting to be adopted by families. Today, Mehdi and Dounia’s goal is to help eradicate rabies in Morocco. “It is a disease that is transmitted to humans“, specifies Mehdi. At the beginning of the Kelb Derbyn adventure, Mehdi and Dounia fed more than 500 dogs a day, with the help of locals. Subsequently, they began to sterilize, castrate, and vaccinate the dogs .
