Near Montpellier, members of the “SOS Oulala” collective are fighting against the “LIEN” project, which consists of building an additional motorway near the city.

“To act now is to build another model in a democratic way, it is to immediately stop all climaticide projects which reinforce urbanization, concrete and road traffic. It is still time.”

“It was initially presented as a small inter-cantonal road to connect the villages and open up the hinterland. In reality, it is a large ring road that will connect the A75 motorway and the A9 motorway.

These activists gathered near Montpellier to oppose the project to create a motorway that will link the A75 motorway and the A9. They denounce the ecological impact of such a construction.

“In reality, road projects are national infrastructures which are thought of as a network which is grafted onto the territories and which never responds to the problems of the territories.”

For these members of the collective, protecting their land is a necessity. “You should know that the Mediterranean is one of the richest biodiversities in the world, we are sitting on a real treasure and in fact, the areas affected are extremely precious biodiversity hotspots.”
