For him, it is the inner beauty that counts. Jonathan dissects human bodies donated to science to better understand what we are made of. And his daily life, that’s it…

Jonathan Bennion is an influencer like no other. On social networks, he shares a somewhat special passion with his millions of subscribers: he dissects human corpses for science and then releases educational videos. You can see real stomachs, brains or even testicles. “Look how amazing it is inside, if you look closely you can almost see little stringy things here“, he rejoices. But before being this extraordinary influencer, Jonathan is above all a medical assistant and anatomist. He co-founded the Institute of Human Anatomy in 2012 in Utah, after discovering a passion for teaching from real corpses.

During an anatomy class at the university, he had something of a click: “The teacher’s assistant handed me a human heart, for a second I thought, “Oh my God, this is a real human heart.” And suddenly, it became: “That’s so cool. I want more.” I am one of those people“A brilliant student, Jonathan soon became his teacher’s assistant.”I happened to come at 2 a.m. and take the corpses out to study them and learn from all these incredible donors.“, he recalls. While teaching anatomy at a technical university, he finally decided to open his own laboratory to reach more people.

Today, he runs a private lab with a small team in a school building in Salt Lake City, Utah. “High school students have access to corpses and learn in preview, that’s how we finance our laboratory“, explains Jonathan. Obviously, all the bodies were given to science.
