Jonathan is 18 years old and three years ago he arrived in Brest from Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Today, after having obtained his baccalaureate with a “Very good” mention, he has just joined a prestigious engineering school.

Jonathan, a brilliant science terminal student, joined an engineering school at the start of the school year: INSA in Lyon. But her story isn’t as linear as her school career would suggest. Three years ago, he landed in Brest without papers, on the street. He lived all these years with the fear of being expelled and sent back to his country of origin, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A brilliant student who took his destiny into his own hands

But his dream of succeeding in school never left him and it was thanks to him that he was able to change the course of his life. Today, he is regularized and he intends to continue his career. When he becomes an engineer, he wants to work on environmental issues.

A report by Olivier Sibille and Mathieu Rénier broadcast in “Special Envoy” on October 27, 2022.

Jonathan obtained papers, but still does not have money to finance his engineering studies, which are very expensive. The association that helps him has set up an online kitty for people who would like to help him: https://adjim.org/don-pour-la-scolarisation/
