Franck Gastambide was in Colombia for the shooting of his new film “Medellín”. Brut followed the actor, producer and director to the “barrio Escobar”, a famous neighborhood in the country built by Pablo Escobar himself.
“Here they have great admiration for Pablo Escobar because he was the one who had this barrio built.” Currently in Colombia for the shooting of his new film “Medellín”, he talks about the warm welcome given by the inhabitants.
“We’ve been living in this neighborhood for several weeks, we’re getting to know everyone. I have the impression that it makes them happy, that everyone comes a bit like the show every morning to shoot today.
For his latest film, Franck Gastambide and his film crew went to the “barrio Escobar” in Colombia. This district was built by the drug trafficker Pablo Escobar himself.
“This neighborhood is still very steeped in what Escobar was and what he left here. They have a fascination that remains totally intact and that is not at all the case for the rest of the country! We had a few initial apprehensions, to say “how are we going to be received in this neighborhood?”
Although the film is not at “Escobar’s Glory”, Franck Gastambide explains that he was very well received by the locals. “We are welcomed in an extremely warm way, we feel their neighborhood alive. what it does is quite amazing.”
The release of “Medellin” is scheduled for 2023 on the Amazon Prime streaming platform.
